New Holiday Farm Fire Permit Navigator Appointed to Help Survivors

Lane County’s Land Management Division has just announced that Marianne Nolte has been selected to fill Lane County’s new “Holiday Farm Fire Permit Navigator” position.

This is an important new function within the Land Management Division – and as the name implies the Permit Navigator position was created with the singular mission of assisting Holiday Farm Fire survivors as they navigate through the complexities of the permitting process.

In this role Marianne will be responsible for:

  • Designing, implementing and coordinating community outreach systems and strategies to educate residents on the permitting process;
  • Translating land use and building code regulations and providing 1:1 guidance to help residents move quickly through the permit process;
  • Utilizing trauma-informed care principles to best support this population;
  • Providing evidence-based recommendations on how to improve the permitting process;
  • Collaborating with partners in the government, private, and non-profit sectors to increase community engagement and identify opportunities to connect with property owners; and
  • Coordinating closely with Lane County’s Disaster Recovery Manager.

Marianne has worked with Lane County since 2020 as a Land Management Technician and she is no stranger to the permitting process. Marianne regularly staffed the County’s satellite permit office in Blue River and knows better than most the challenges that our McKenzie residents face in working through land use and building code processes. She’s well positioned to hit the ground running.

In addition to her deep technical skills and knowledge of the code, Marianne is a dynamic communicator with a demonstrated passion for exceptional customer service. Marianne possess a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. Prior to working for Lane County Marianne was a fourth grade teacher for a number of years and a program coordinator at the University of Utah.

Marianne’s first day in her new role is June 21.

She can be reached at: Marianne.NOLTE@lanecountyor.gov or 541-682-4057.
