Housing

An Opportunity to Build Back Better.

Housing is one of our primary areas of focus, and we recognize that the desire to ‘get back home’ upriver is so strong that many have already moved back, willing to brave the cold weather in RVs or even tents. Many folks who want to be upriver are still unable to do that, however, and find themselves having to stay with friends or family, or in hotels using Red Cross vouchers.

With a hard winter ahead, and the process of rebuilding likely to take years, the CDC is exploring a range of solutions to help support residents as they move back, ranging from emergency shelter to transitional housing and rental options. We are also keen to turn this crisis into an opportunity to address the longer-term needs of our diverse community, working in partnership with a range of organizations such as Homes for Good, DevNW, and Cornerstone. We’re in this together for the long-haul.
