Senate Bill 745 Offers Wildfire-Affected Communities Water & Sanitary Options
On the 29th March Oregon Senate Bill SB-745, which would allow the Blue River H2O District to incorporate a Sanitary District under its governance, was heard at the Senate Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Wildlife Recovery (SNRWR) and passed to the Senate Floor for consideration. While SB-745 doesn’t resolve the immediate problems we all face with sanitation in the valley it should improve the governance issue, including access to future funding for improved community sanitary services.
The McKenzie CDC has been working at both the County and State level to ensure wildfire-affected McKenzie residents have a bright future as we build back better. Our continued support for this Bill will hopefully mean communities like Blue River have the opportunity to seek funds for new infrastructure, such as a town sanitary system, enabling investment in businesses that will bring jobs and prosperity to the valley.
