Lane Electric Public Safety Power Shutoff Update
Information regarding our PSPS Protocol and Emergency Resources
Lane Electric’s service territory continues to remain under an excessive heat warning through Saturday at 10pm. The National Weather Service recently issued a Red Flag Warning across the Central Cascades Range from 11am today through 10pm Friday. In addition, evacuation notices in conjunction with the Middle Fork Complex Fire have been issued.
We are monitoring the weather closely and do not have a planned outage in place currently. However, that could change quickly, and we want to make you aware of our Public Safety Power Shutoff protocol as well as share additional resources. Above all, we wish for our members safety and encourage you to take the necessary precautions.
A Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) occurs in response to severe weather. We turn off power to help prevent the spread of wildfires and keep our community safe. We monitor several weather factors to decide whether a PSPS is needed to keep members safe. Although you may not live or work in a high fire-threat area or an area experiencing high winds, your power may be shut off if your community relies on a line that runs through an area that does.
Lane Electric will notify members as soon as possible through phone, email, text, social media and media advisories if extreme weather conditions combined with on-the-ground observation signals that a PSPS is required to safeguard members. Find more information on a PSPS here.
