Update – Ballots for Displaced McKenzie Residents
Dates of Note:
- 13th Oct. – Deadline for NEW Registrations
- 15th – 29th Oct. – Ballots go out
The fires have displaced most of our community and right before the most important election for many years. If you are currently able to receive your mail through the Walterville Post Office you might not want to take any further action but for those of us who are displaced and have a reliable new temporary address within Oregon below is some advice.
After speaking to the Lane County Clerk the best action for a displaced person to take is to go online per the instructions below and update their registration to include a new temporary address where they can safely receive your ballot. This is not a change of address.
Use this link to access a Fillable voter registration card that can be completed to register or update your registration to include a temporary mailing address.
This form can be downloaded and completed on a computer without printing and if you are already registered it can processed without a signature, so you can email it to elections@lanecountyor.gov for processing.
The last day they are able to mail a ballot is 10/29/20 by law, so get this done ASAP.
New registrations require a completed card and original wet signature so must be printed and completed. Cards can be postmarked or delivered to the local elections office. A 24-hour drop box is open (drive through off of Lincoln St./ 10th & Lincoln downtown.
If your situation is more complex than this, such as you are currently staying at an address outside Oregon, you are unable to access you mail in Walterville as you are on the other side of the Level 3 fire zome or you do not have a temporary address to use please contact the Lane County Elections Office, contact details here.
