Two New Resources Available for Fire Survivors

There are two new resources available for fire survivors who need rental assistance or who receive SNAP benefits.

Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program (OERAP)

OERAP will cover up to 12 months of past due rent and three months of forward rent, once all past due rent is paid. OERAP will also cover past due utility costs including electricity, gas, home energy services, water, sewer, trash removal, internet and bulk fuels.

OERAP is different than the Landlord Compensation Fund as the tenant themselves can submit an application directly. Information will still be needed from your landlord to complete this application, but these funds are especially useful for those whose landlords have refused to apply for or been denied applying for the Landlord Compensation Fund. Tenants and landlords alike are being encouraged to visit www.oregonrentalassistance.org for the most up-to-date information, resources, and support– including paper applications, Community Action Agency (CAA)/Housing Authority (PHA) contact information, and tenant/landlord checklists. Citizenship or immigration status does not matter for this program.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Lane County Farmers Market is participating in the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program. DUFB is a program that “matches” SNAP benefits spent at participating farmers markets, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)/farm share programs and grocery stores. For every $2 someone spends in SNAP benefits, they get a match of up to $10 in DUFB that they can spend on fruits and vegetables.
