Lane County Parks to Undergo Cleanup

Lane County Parks owns and operates four parks that were damaged in the wildfire: Helfrich Landing (milepost 28), Eagle Rock (milepost 35), H.J. Morton (milepost 37) and Forest Glen Landing (milepost 41). Only Helfrich Landing has reopened to the public.

Combined, the parks are just over 31 acres in size and we estimate that hundreds of hazard trees will be removed by the State’s contractors, as well as many tons of debris, before significant repairs and infrastructure replacement can happen. HJ Morton and Forest Glen Landing were the most damaged in the fire and in need of the most cleanup.

Eagle Rock, H.J. Morton and Forest Glen Landing will remain closed until further notice. We appreciate everyone for respecting the ongoing closures. As we work through the cleanup process, we will also be able to begin planning for the rebuilding of the parks. There will be opportunities for the McKenzie community to participate in that process and help guide the future of the County parks in the fire area.
