Keeping Cool This Summer

THIS CAMPAIGN HAS NOW CLOSED

The McKenzie Community Development Corporation is offering free fans for valley residents without Air Conditioning.

Oregon is in the grip of a severe drought, and – along with the entire Pacific Northwest – we’re experiencing record-breaking high temperatures.

And while these dangerous conditions would be challenging at the best of times, many in our community are also having to cope with the fact that they don’t have their homes and utilities fully restored yet, following the devastating wild fires of 2020.

In an effort to do what we can to help McKenzie Valley residents stay cool during this extended heat wave, the McKenzie CDC will be purchasing a number of fans to give to those in need.

So if you’re stuck without air conditioning, please reach out to us by emailing mckenziecdc@gmail.com and providing the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Contact Telephone Number
  3. Email
  4. Current Address
  5. Home/property address (if different due to displacement)
  6. Age (we will give priority to elderly folks)
  7. Your Preference – A Battery Powered or Electric Fan

We will try to accommodate all requests depending on demand and funds available. If you wish to help out with this initiative and contribute towards the purchase of fans for residents, please also do reach out to the email above or click here to make a donation. Select “Fans for Fire Survivors” from the PayPal “Use this Donation for” dropdown. We’d love to partner with you to help as many in our community as possible!

Please reach out before Saturday, July 31st to register your interest, and also indicate in the email whether you are able to collect your fan from a drop-off location. We will likely distribute the fans in Blue River and Leaburg, but will share exact dates and locations once we have gathered all the responses. If you need a battery-powered fan because there is no electricity in your property, or if you’re unable to collect a fan due to lack of transport, we might be able to help, so be sure to reach out!

Keep safe, and look out for one another.

We are #McKenzieStrong
